Mr. Joseph A. "Joe" Morrison, 88, of Candor, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.

A long time resident of Candor, NY, Joe dedicated his life to his family and community.

He leaves behind a legacy of service, having been a trustee on the Candor Village board, a devoted volunteer at the Bread of Life Food Pantry, and a long-standing member of the Friends of the Library for the Candor Free Library. His commitment to public service was recognized in 2023 when he was honored as Candor's Citizen of the Year alongside his close friend and diner buddy, Dick Zavatto.

Joe is survived by his sister, Janet Abrams; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Gail Morrison, Jerry and Donna Morrison, John and Kim Morrison; seven grandchildren, Peter (Nicole), Stephanie (Michael), Sean (Kevin), Brian (Alyssa), Elise (Joseph), Gabrielle, and Vyn Li; two great-grandsons, Myles and Oliver, and countless friends who cherished his warmth and generous spirit. The family would like to especially thank Jerry and Donna for managing Joe's care in his final months.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Martha, who passed away in 2013. Together, they shared a love of writing, faith, and summer trips to Maine.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Candor, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation in Joe's Memory to the Bread of Life Food Pantry, 1 Water St, Candor, NY 13743 or Candor Free Library, 2 Bank St, Candor, NY 13743. Burial will be later at the convenience of the family.
