Patricia Ann "Pat" Shafer, 83, of Owego, NY, passed away due to a long battle with cancer, Saturday, August 10, 2024, surrounded by her family. Patricia was born in Waverly, New York to the late Kenneth and Ruth Pipher. Along with her parents, Pat was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, John Shafer; sister, Joan Baker; foster child, Alice Bidlack. Pat is survived by her three children and their spouses, Peter Shafer, Phoebe and Mark Morris, Amelia and Scott Lushia; four grandchildren, Helen Morris, Edward Morris, John Lushia, Kateri Lushia; three sisters, Rose Marie Shipman, Janice Pipher, Mary Ann Pipher; two brothers, David Pipher, Steve Pipher; several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Pat was an active member of the First Presbyterian Union Church of Owego, serving as elder, deacon, on session and chair of presbyterian woman. She worked as a respite worker with RSS, Owego for many years. Pat was very community minded and active with many local organizations. A celebration of Pat's life will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Union Church, 90 North Ave., Owego, NY. The family will receive friends, Saturday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the church.
