Donald Robert Quick, Jr, 69, of Candor, NY passed away peacefully on September 25, 2024, surrounded by his family after a 5 year battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was predeceased in death by his father and step-mother, Donald Quick Sr. and Joyce Quick; his mother and step-father, Leorah Slate and Ron Slate; younger sister, Ronalee Slate. He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Quick; three daughters, Amy Quick, Ashley English, Alexis Quick, who he loved dearly; four grandchildren, Tia Quill, Kaden Hover, DJ Hall, Zephyr Hall; great-grandson, Mikiel Quill; four siblings, Jean Dunham, Sereta Spohn, Nancy Snyder, Eric (Charlotte) Slate; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Don was a doer. Where there was a need within his family or community, he was the first to volunteer his time, resources, and self to the cause. He showed love to everyone he came in contact with until his last breath. He volunteered at church in several ways; heading up the praise team at Straits Corners Baptist Church, helping with Vacation Bible School, and was heavily involved in Closer Walk of Upper New York. He and his daughter Alexis, created and led an event to feed the community called "Feed the 5,000". He loved his community and served it by volunteering at the Bread of Life Food Pantry, the Candor Fire Department Auxiliary, in Candor, NY, and was Squadron Leader of Civil Air Patrol in Owego, NY. He also served on the Candor School Board for three years and was a member of the Candor Booster Club. Before his illness, he enjoyed golfing, listening to bands, and dancing. He was the drummer for Tradewinds (for several years), a band that was started by his uncle, Frank Updyke. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, Candor, NY with the Pastor Douglas Brock, officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Valley Cemetery, Willseyville, NY. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donald R. Quick, Jr.'s memory to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 12226, Syracuse, NY 13218 or Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N.
