Obituary of Donald Gene Darrah

Donald G. Darrah, 60, of Apalachin, NY, passed away on December 22, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Donnie leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work and love. Donnie was predeceased by his mother, Donna Darrah. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Stephanie, his cherished children; daughter, Ashley Darrah and her finance', Chris Trumble; son, Steven Sanders and his wife, Stefani; daughter, Tonya Sanders. Donnie was a proud grandfather to his grandsons, Warren, Alex and Orion Sanders, Elec Bovair, Declan Bothwell, and Spencer Trumble-Darrah. He also leaves behind honorary children, Rachel Severcool, Jarred Tucker, and Corey Bothwell; his father, Henry Darrah; his brother, William (Boo) Darrah and his wife Regenna; his sister, Tammy Darrah and her partner, John Masi; his sister-in-love, Shannon Martinez and her spouse Brian; nieces and nephews, Megan Darrah, Abi Darrah, Aydin Johnson-Rolle, Lindsay Darrah, Amber Gibson and her husband Sam, Nicholas Zembery, and Cierra Martinez. He is also survived by his favorite cousins, Wayne Padgett, Robert Padgett, and Patti Ackley. For over 20 years, Donnie made a lasting impact working at the Owego Apalachin School District, where he touched the lives of countless students and staff members. Known for his love of hunting, riding quads, his knack for fixing anything in his garage, and his passion for music – particularly KISS and Phil Collins – Donnie's vibrant personality earned him the love and admiration of many. A special thank you to Pastor Joe Coudriet for his many house calls and endless support of Donnie and the family; beloved neighbors Doreen Darrah and Doug Vandermark for their love and support; a heartfelt thank you to Hospice, all of the support staff they sent, and nurse Nikki for the exceptional care. A celebration of Donnie's life will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at Family Life Church, 157 Clark Street, Vestal, NY. The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 3rd from 11:00 to 12:00 Noon prior to the services at the church.
