Obituary of Florence Gail Alpert
Please share a memory of Florence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Florence Gail Alpert, Candor, NY, died in the early morning hours of Christmas day, December 25, 2024 in the presence of loved ones. Born in Waverly, NY on October 5, 1946. Florence lived almost all of her life in New York. She adventured to Tucson, Arizona for a short period in the late 1980's before returning home. Florence, better known as Floie to her friends and Jibber by family, dedicated many years of her life to public service in the greater Ithaca area. She served as a troop leader for the Girl Scouts of America during her daughter's youth. Florence was also an active member of her local civil government through town board meetings. Florence was commonly referred to by members of her community for matters of legal or financial research. Good with numbers, Florence worked as a senior clerk at Marine Midland Bank in Ithaca, NY for 6 years. She soon after worked as the payroll coordinator at the Dryden Central School District for 20 years until her retirement in 2009. In her retirement, she was an active member of the American Legion at Post 907 in Candor, NY. She loved to work in her garden as much as she did in her community. During the spring and summer, she was often found in her garden beds planting flowers around her home. For 20 years, she was dedicated to the care of her loving husband, Bruce, until his passing in 2016. Florence was cherished, being a statue of love and care for three generations of her family. She will be dearly missed and her memory will always be a shining light in the lives those who loved her. Funeral services were held on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at the Caroline Center Church, 719 Buffalo Rd, Brooktondale, NY. The Reverend Phil Jordan officiated. Florence's family would like to extend their gratitude to the Caroline Center Church Ladies Auxiliary. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Florence G. Alpert to Bread of Life Food Pantry - Candor, 1 Water Street, Candor, NY 13743. Condolences may be made to Florence's famly at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
