James Thomas "Jim" Brown

James Thomas "Jim" Brown, of Binghamton, New York, passed away on January 6, 2025. Jim was born on May 23, 1967, in Nanuet, New York. He was the youngest of five children. His journey began at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School, where he discovered his passion for carpentry. Over the years, Jim perfected his craft, becoming a master carpenter known for creating stunning works of art and leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. His talent knew no bounds—there was no project too big or small that he couldn't bring to life.

Jim was more than a carpenter; he was a kind and generous soul who turned every job into an opportunity to connect with others. His warmth and good humor touched the hearts of those who knew him, and he formed lifelong friendships through his work.

A devout Catholic, Jim's deep faith in Christ guided his life and shaped his unwavering love for others. He found joy in life's simple pleasures: immersing himself in music, cheering on his beloved New York Giants with unmatched passion, casting a line on quiet fishing trips, and watching any sport that came on TV. Jim's life was a testament to dedication, faith, and love. He will be remembered not only as a true craftsman but also as a craftsman of connection, bringing light to all who crossed his path.

Jim is survived by his children, Faith Brown-Coffman (Matt), of St. Louis, Missouri, and Thomas Langley, of Montgomery, Alabama. He is also survived by his siblings, Mary Ann Smeader (Jack), of Delray Beach, Florida, Barbara Richards (Jim), of Lewes, Delaware, Patricia Mitzak, of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, and William Brown (Shelly), of Bridgewater, New Jersey; along with many nieces and nephews.

Jim is predeceased by his beloved mother, Mary Ann Kahane; stepfather, Stanley B. Kahane; father, William J. Brown; and his nephew, Jimi Richards.

A memorial service to honor James T. Brown will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous in Jim's memory. No matter where Jim was in life—physically, mentally, or spiritually—he remained deeply committed to attending meetings and supporting others on their journeys to recovery.
