Obituary of Hilda Rhoda Taylor

Hilda R. Taylor, 83, of Owego, New York, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 18, 2025. Hilda was predeceased by three brothers, Norman Babcock, Blair Babcock, G. Lyman Babcock; sister, Linda Lethbridge. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dennis Taylor; three sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Terri Taylor, Craig and Tamara Taylor, Dean and Jamie Taylor; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Danny George; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Knight, Millie Coleman, Marlene Jewett; brother and sister-in-law, David and Kathy Babcock; several nieces and nephews. Hilda worked as a secretary for many years at Stakmore Co., in Owego, NY. Soon after the birth of her first child, Hilda devoted herself to being a mother and homemaker. Once all her children were attending school, she broadened her devotion to serving the children of Owego by working as a lunch aid in the elementary school until she retired. She was a woman of strong faith and member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Owego, NY. Hilda loved to bake cookies, breads, and pies. She would share that love with her grandchildren whenever they came to visit. She also enjoyed playing board and card games, especially Scrabble and the newspaper daily word scramble. She liked being outside and watching her kids play sports. She was an avid reader. The family will receive friends Friday, February 7, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene Church, 3732 Waverly Road, Owego, NY. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bumpville Bible Church, 2187 Bumpville Road, Rome, PA.
