Andrew E. “Andy” King, 98, of Little Meadows, PA, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at home surrounded by his family. Andy was predeceased by his wife, Lauretta King and an infant daughter. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Paul King, Jenny an d Charles Fahringer, Billie Rose Duffek, David and Gail King, Kay Marie and William Hess; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Andrew was raised in Ulster, PA. He enlisted in the Navy for WWII and served his country as a Navy CB in the South Pacific. Upon completion of Military service he returned to Owego, NY and married Lauretta Sullivan in 1945; raising five children. Paul, Jenny, Billie, David, and Kay. As a life long building contractor and land developer, he operated and maintained King Construction, a multi-generation family owned construction business. He then passed the business and knowledge to his children and grandchildren. Energetic as he was, he utilized his entrepreneurial skills as a farmer, gardener and restaurant owner. As a resident of Little Meadows for 61 years he served as a councilman, fireman, land developer, and was involved in scouting. Andy was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He had many lifelong friends, card partners, and others. (Some of which Lauretta thought were of questionable character). But most of all he was a husband, Father, and neighbor to be proud of. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Little Meadows, PA. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Andrew King’s memory to Guthrie Hospice, One Guthrie Square, Sayre, PA 18840.
