Candor, New York: James Robert Berry, 70, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 at home. Jim was predeceased by his parents, John “Frank” Berry and Myrtle Pike; two brothers, Frank and George Berry. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandy Berry; three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Tom Edwards, Deborah and Michael Garlough, Johanna and Christopher Berry-Cline; five grandchildren, Lindsey and Jared Edwards, Jeremy, Owen and Aiyana Garlough; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Genevieve Gleason, Marie and John Zettlemoyer, Grace and Bruce Jerrett; two sisters-in-law, Donna Short, Sharon and John Carlile; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim graduated from Watkins Glen High School Class of 1964. He worked as a meat cutter for several years and retired from the Entomology Department at Cornell University after 20+ years of service. Jim enjoyed coaching and umpiring little league and softball, nature, birdwatching, hunting, and boating with his family, watching classic western films and tv shows, traveling and playing cards with family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Candor, NY with the Rev. Phil Jordan, officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the services.
