Geraldine (Burtt) Allen, 86, of Endicott, died Thursday, September 22, 2016. Mrs. Allen was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Ruth (Wolf) Fenstemacher; husband, Donald M. Allen; daughter, Celia (Burtt) Vanderpool. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Anna Burtt, of St. Louis, MO, Brian and Renee Burtt, Owego; brother, Dale (Lynda) Fenstemacher, Pensacola FL; two step-sons, Gary (Leanna) Allen, David Allen; three grandchildren, Angela Basalla, Laura Szmal, and Andrew Burtt; two step-grandchildren, Christine Felton and Zacharry Allen; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Gerry was part of America’s Greatest Generation, and her life was an adventure. As a young adult in Williamsport PA, she obtained her private pilot's license at the age of eighteen. She worked at The Grit Newspaper and played trombone in the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra. Later in life, she worked for The Owego Times and Gazette, was an Owego Police Dispatcher, and was employed at Tioga County Social Services. She was an avid Penn State Football Fan, reader, crossword enthusiast, gardener, traveler, painter, and Scrabble and Anagram champion. Most of all, she loved her family. Funeral services will be celebrated on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego with the Rev. Daniel Eddings, officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends, Monday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
