Edward R. Williams, 86, of Owego passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016. Ed is survived by his wife of 28 years, Andrea Williams; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Jeffrey Kalkan, Sarah and Douglas Evans; four grandchildren, Rachel ( Nathan), Jonathan (Ashley), Ashley, Christopher (Yeeun); great-granddaughter, Amelia; mother of his daughters, Laville Williams. He was predeceased by his cherished dog, Tinkerbell. Ed was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from IBM-Owego after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Newark Valley United Methodist Church, having served in various positions, as Lay Leader, Council on Ministries member, Church Administrative Board and Pastor Parish Relations. Ed was very community minded and was a member of the VFW Post #1371, Southern Tier Model Railroad Association and he loved to travel. The family would like to extend a very special Thank You to the Staff at Lourdes Home Health Care, Lourdes Hospital and expecially to the ICU Unit for their compassionate care of Ed. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego with the Rev. Jan Devine, officiating. Burial will be in the Hope Cemetery, Newark Valley. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Edward R. Williams’ memory to the VFW Post #1371, 207 Main Street, Owego, NY 13827. Condolences may be made to Ed’s family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
