Obituary of Clifford Dean Newman

Clifford D. Newman, 90, passed away on August 10, 2018. Cliff was born in Candor, NY to the late Glenn and Maude (Welch) Newman. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Duane Newman; two brothers, Ralph and Ernie Newman; and three sisters, Gladys Bakeman, Florence Roberts, and Glenna Lea Newman. Cliff is survived by: Doris Blackman; children and their spouses, Debra (Jan) Cole, Danette (David) Reis, Daniel Newman; seven grandchildren, BJ (Wendy) Cole, Dustin Newman, Kristin (Gray) Masencup, Adam (Danielle) Cole, Kecia (Allen) Ham, Joshua Reis, Lorelai Newman; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald (Linda) Newman, and Karl (Jeanette) Newman; sister Eleanor Newman; brother-in-law Edward Roberts; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and the mother of his children, Rebecca Newman. Cliff was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Occupation in Ardenza, Italy. He was a proud member of the VFW Post #1371, having served with the honor guard since 1962 and served as Commander from 1971-1972. Cliff was an auctioneer for over 40 years and was very proud to assist with numerous charity auctions to benefit local youth. Cliff was also a proud member of the NYS Auctioneer’s Assocation Hall of Fame. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 6:45 pm at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego, NY. A memorial service will immediately follow at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Route 96B, Candor, NY, on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 11:00 am.
