William “Bill” B. Gilbert, 90, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, June 8, 2014 at home. Mr. Gilbert was predeceased by his son, William E. Gilbert; brother, Edward A. Gilbert. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth “Betty” M. Gilbert; daughter, Patricia Mayo; grandchildren, Katherine Mayo, Anne-Marie Mayo, Marcia Alvorado, Vanessa and Dan Corson; great-granddaughter, Scarlett Corson. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a teacher, coach and a school administrator for the Onondaga Central School District and Sandy Creek Central School District. He was active in the NYSPHSAA-Section III. In his retirement years he loved to garden and watch his favorite team, The St. Louis Cardinals, on TV. The family will receive friends Thursday June 12, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY. Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Cedarville Cemetery, Cedarville, NY. Memorial Contributions may be made in William B.
