The Chief, Council and Community would like to extend our condolences to the family of Pearl Cornell over the tragic loss of her son Dylan who was taken from us in a dreadful vehicle accident.
Dylan spent many years here in the community and has made life-long connections with many of us. He left the community some time ago but always kept his connections here with his family and friends who were joyous when Dylan was able to turn his life around. He lived a life alcohol and drug -free for over the past ten years becoming a role model for others and endearing him to a whole new generation of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Even though Dylan was in the States, he was able to celebrate and help out his brother Tim in the building of Tim’s family home. Dylan was extremely close to his brother Tim and they remained so throughout their lives.
Recently, Dylan was making ready to complete arrangements for his future having completed a land/house transaction in our community of Neyaashiinigmiing, whereby he would be able to come and visit comfortably.
He was always looking out for his Mom even though he was physically far away, including making sure she received Christmas gifts and phone calls during the festive season and also just those phone calls to say “Hi Mom, I love and miss you”, and making sure she had everything she needed.
The sudden loss of a child tears at the heart and soul of his Mother and is extremely painful to all family members and friends. I would like to express that the loss of family always ripples through the Community and it is my hope that you all feel the comfort of this community as it holds you in their prayers and hearts in this most difficult time.
