Obituary of Pamela R. Green
Please share a memory of Pamela to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Good ‘ole girl, Pamela (Raftis) Lengel Green, 71, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2014. Pam was endeared to her family and an abundant collection of friends due to her loving nature, buoyant personality and exceptionally-gifted sense of humor. She was a joke-teller without peer and always induced the desired effect from her audience by uncontrollably breaking out in laughter herself before even making it to the punchline. That infectious laugh would perhaps be better described as a howl and the more raucous and indelicate the joke, the heartier the resultant howl. Pam was a devoted and doting grandmother. Pam enjoyed sitting on her front porch, surveying the colorful garden that her husband maintained for her and receiving friends. Much laughter was heard to cascade from that setting. She was predeceased by her father, Robert Raftis. She is survived by her mother, Marianne Raftis, her husband of 17 years Dan Green who she referred to as her “Rock”, son Jeffrey (Trina) Lengel, step-children Scott Green, Steven (Denise) Green, and Kelly (Brian) Wakeman, ten grandchildren and her new great-grandson. Also surviving are three sisters-Pat Pacatte (James “Skip” Pacatte - deceased), Margaret Raftis and Penny (Phil) Sharrow; two brothers-Mike and Marty (Lisa) Raftis and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Pam previously worked at First City National Bank, the Department of Transportation and retired from Tioga County Family Court. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 10:30 am. at St.Patrick’s Church, 300 Main St., Owego with Rev. Thomas Valenti officiating. Burial will be in Bramanville Prospect Cemetery, Howes Cave, NY. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 pm. at the Estey,Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in Pamela Green’s memory to the Owego Fire/Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 22, Owego, NY 13827. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Noel, Sue, Julie and the staff at the Wilmot Cancer Center at Strong Memorial Hospital. Also thanks to all of her friends and neighbors who visited and supported Pam and Dan. Condolences may be made to Pam’s family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
