I am unable to attend the Memorial Service for Durwin Rude this afternoon at 1 pm at the First Baptist Church of Newark Valley. In Durwin's obituary it directed condolences for the family here and I am thankful for this way of contacting his family.
My name is Julie and Durwin and I went to grade school together. I remember Durwin fondly and was heartbroken to hear of his passing. It may have been many years since I went to school with Durwin, but I do remember him very well. Durwin was a quiet, shy and kind boy. I was drawn to him because of just those reasons. Durwin and his family must have moved and I now see he lived in Owego. It seems from the comments on the Memories of Owego, NY, facebook page that he grew into a fine man. Comments like pleasant, respectful, nice and that he will be missed. I am sure he was all of those and more.
I wanted to say to Durwin's family that I am so sorry to hear of his passing and that he is remembered so very fondly by myself and others. Bless you all as you remember Durwin and may his kindness, pleasantness and respectfulness live on in you and that you share it with others as Durwin did. You will honor Durwin if you do. My heart is heavy and is with you all today but I pray today is a celebration of Durwin's life.
Blessings,
Julie
