In Loving Memory of Uncle Pete
I’ll never forget the 4th of July when Uncle Pete came to visit Grandma Bowen in Montrose and brought his amazing German Shorthair Pointer, Gurtie. That day stands out so vividly in my mind—running around the yard for hours, laughing and playing with that incredible dog. Gurtie wasn’t just a dog; she was a reflection of Uncle Pete’s love for life, for animals, and for the joy he found in sharing those passions with others.
That visit inspired me in ways I didn’t even realize at the time. Today, I’m on my second GSP, and I know Uncle Pete had a hand in sparking that love. His kindness and enthusiasm for the things he cared about were contagious and I remember the simple beauty of a day spent outdoors.
Uncle Pete, I love you, and I’ll carry your memory with me always. I’ve made up my mind—when the time comes for my next puppy, it’s going to be a female GSP named Gurtie. A tribute to you, your legacy, and that unforgettable day in Montrose.
Rest easy, Uncle Pete. You’ll always be in my heart.
With love,
Tim Adkins
