Mr. Kemp the Elder.
Your son has brought music, the Christian gospel, educational approaches from around the world, and the love of the original Star Trek to my family's home in Connecticut. His consideration of Patatheque by Beethoven was even mentioned by me to the United Nations. I am saddened that we were only able to get one day together. And that you too were given Alzheimers along the way. I did try repeatedly to come to see you, but it was rebuffed. Ray and I could have used some all American grandfathering along the way, especially since my daddy had such good American heritage throughout his life. I hope you can give us some grace from heaven above as we continue to negotiate the viciously competitive terrains of the Connecticut legal and medical worlds at the instigation of some outside factions as well...
I am grateful that New York provided us with one of its good sons and that one of your state's daughter's, Jaclyn Sinclair, presently supports my doctor cousin, Lawrence Cicchiello as well. I hope to continue the medical tradition without further aggressions by those already there (legitimately or otherwise), with the hopes that they don't mind a little competition now and then...
My cousin once pushed me down as I started to take my first steps and he said, "Missy No Walk!" But he also encouraged me to do law school and the medical field. I guess he was saying I should have a limousine or something...maybe in this lifetime...
I do love my family's home in Connecticut (daddy and mommy built it together) and I hope I get to carry on its legacy for posterity with the grace of the world community--I even began the process of putting 99 Robbins Drive in the National Park Service's registry of historic places. Because, in part, your son's hands played our amazing piano well in this very house. He never really directly taught me any music, and some folks got really worked up when I'd engage with him about that but...I'm glad we got to share the musical terrains of this house together.
Not to mention a really cool magnet that he got when meeting William Shatner...and discussing interesting passages in the Bible with him and Mom.
Attached please find the card I gave to folks this year after I went to the United Nations and contributed to a report at the General Assembly. Here's hoping there will be many more such opportunities to do good for this world in this lifetime.
Thanks for the gift of William, with all his curves and edges!
